GMTRENDS needs professionals In Trafford

Last year Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) launched an emergent substance use survey (MESUS) covering the city of Manchester. This month saw the launch of a similar survey covering the rest of Greater Manchester.
Woman and man sat having a conversation

GMTRENDS (Greater Manchester Testing and Research for Emergent and New Drugs) uses a multi-method approach comprising an online survey of professionals; in-depth interviews with key professionals; in-depth interviews with people who use drugs and specifically targeted drug analysis by MANDRAKE*.

The online survey for professionals is now open, and we are very keen in particular for non drugs specialists who have clients/patients using dugs or alcohol in Trafford, Salford, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Tameside, Wigan, Stockport and Bolton to take part.

The survey covers a wide range of drugs, alcohol and tobacco products. The survey asks participants to click one of three boxes for each drug seen in their client group: No use by client group; No change in last year; or change in last year. If respondents have seen changes they are asked to provide details and comment.

Take professional survey

There is also a separate survey for people who use drugs (PWUDs), so could we would also urge you to encourage clients to fill out this survey.

GM TRENDS is designed to enhance local drugs intelligence and will benefit all professionals working in Greater Manchester, so please take the time to complete it if you can.

Anybody who wants further information, please contact Dr Rob Ralphs (R.Ralphs@mmu.ac.uk).

The research has been funded by Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
