It's Volunteers' Week 2022

From 1-7 June, Healthwatch Trafford are bringing attention to the hard work of their volunteers. As a health and social care champion we value public views and participation, and that makes our volunteers invaluable in the work we do.

From 1-7 June, Healthwatch Trafford are bringing attention to the hard work of their volunteers. As a health and social care champion we value public views and participation, and that makes our volunteers invaluable in the work we do. From conducting online reviews to helping at events, they have supported our work despite the challenges they have faced over the past two years with COVID-19, both here and in their personal lives.

About Volunteers' Week

Charities across the UK will also be holding events to thank their volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteering. Last year there were over 600 events across the country, from award ceremonies to tea parties and barbecues.

For many charities the week will be a chance to showcase the range of volunteering opportunities on offer. Volunteer fairs and other events will be encouraged people to try volunteering for the first time and help people find out how, through volunteering, they can make a difference to a cause they are passionate about.

A word from our Chief Officer

Our volunteers are incredibly valuable to our work. We are a small team with limited resource and the help of volunteers allows us to do far more work than we would otherwise. Volunteers are also a valuable source of current information for us; by living and working in Trafford they are perfectly placed to provide insight into the experiences of Trafford residents when accessing health and care services. We are also very lucky to have a broad age mix amongst our volunteers, which helps to highlight issues affecting a particular age group, which may otherwise be missed. Finally, I am extremely thankful for the enthusiasm and desire to make a difference that our volunteers bring to our work; it's a reminder for us all about why we do this and is inspirational.

Healthwatch volunteers

We're so proud of all our volunteers, now, more than ever. Last year a fantastic 3,700 of you volunteered your time to help make a difference to local health and care services. From giving advice and information to an uncertain public, to finding new ways to reach people forced to isolate, our volunteer teams were there to understand the needs of their communities.

We hope you’ll be celebrating this Volunteers’ Week. To kick things off, watch a short thank you message from our National Director, Louise.
