Healthwatch Trafford annual report 2023-24

Our year in numbers
- 1237 people shared their experiences of health and social care services with us, helping to raise awareness of issues and improve care.
- 36,299 people came to us over the phone and online for clear advice and information about topics such as mental health and COVID-19.
- We published 4 reports about the improvements people would like to see to health and social care services.
- Our most popular report was all about alcohol use in Trafford, which investigated people’s feelings about alcohol consumption and where to get help
- We’re lucky to have 23 outstanding volunteers, who gave up 125.83 hours to make care better for our community.
- We’re funded by our local authority. In 2023-24 we received £131,017.
- We currently employ 3.6 full-time equivalent staff.
Highlights
- Our Enter & View programme relaunched with a visit to Withington Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre.
- We were joined by an intern from the University of Manchester over the summer and undertook a project looking at Digital Mental Health Support for children and young people, which proved very informative.
- We continued engaging with local residents and spent more time reaching our to seldom-heard groups within the community.

We benefitted from the cooperation and insight of other Greater Manchester Healthwatch and partners in the NHS and Trafford Council on a number of projects which we began during the 2023-24 period.

Our focus next year will be on the following three areas:
- Discharge to Assess
- CAMHS
- Vaping in children and young people
